What are EAMS body part codes?

The 63 three-digit codes DWC's Electronic Adjudication Management System recognizes for identifying injured body parts on filings — the Application for Adjudication and document cover sheets. They run from 100 (head) through 999 (unclassified), grouped by region: 100s head, 200 neck, 300s upper extremities, 400s trunk, 500s lower extremities, 800s body systems. Per DWC's filing guidance these are the only codes EAMS accepts.

What is the EAMS body part code for a back injury?

420 — "Back - including back muscles, spine and spinal cord." A neck injury is 200, and if the claim involves several regions you list each code (with 700 in the fifth position when more than five major parts are involved).

How do I indicate left or right on an EAMS body part code?

You don't — laterality is never part of the code. Per DWC's OCR filing guidance, specify "left" or "right" in a text field of the case-opening document or in an addendum.

Are EAMS body part codes the same as impairment numbers?

No, and mixing them up is a common filing error. EAMS body-part codes are 3-digit filing codes that say where the injury is (420 = back). AMA/PDRS impairment numbers are the XX.XX.XX.XX codes in medical-legal reports that say how the injury rates (15.03.01.00 = lumbar DRE). The rating string in a DEU rating uses impairment numbers, never EAMS codes.

What is the EAMS body part code for stress or a psychiatric claim?

841 for stress, 842 for psychiatric — both under the 800-series body-system codes. How those claims actually rate (GAF-based, with SB 863 compensability limits) is a separate question from how they are coded for filing.
